Meet Josh Bostedo: From a Hockey Academy, to USPA, to West Point

Josh Bostedo, Class of 2027, chose USPA for its flexibility and ability to support his high-level hockey development.

About Josh Bostedo

Josh began skating and playing ice hockey at just four years old and quickly fell in love with the game. By age nine, he was already competing in travel hockey, and for the past three years, he has trained away from home at a hockey academy and within competitive junior programs. Most recently, Josh completed a season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), continuing to elevate his performance on the ice.

What was school like before USPA?

Before joining USPA, Josh attended a hockey academy that structured academics around the demanding schedule of a student-athlete. While this model helped, balancing high-level hockey with consistent academic progress still required flexibility and ongoing support.

Why did Josh join USPA?

Josh chose USPA because it offered a similar student-athlete-focused academic experience—with even greater flexibility and support. With USPA, Josh is able to:

  • Adjust schoolwork around practices, travel, and game schedules
  • Work at his own pace within a structure that keeps him on track
  • Receive consistent support from teachers and learning coaches—even outside traditional school hours
  • Access coursework that aligns with his interests and long-term goals

What’s next for Josh?

Josh is heading into his senior year at USPA with a clear goal in sight—fulfilling his verbal commitment to play Division I ice hockey at West Point.

As he prepares for this next step, Josh will continue developing his skills within a junior hockey organization, focusing on growth, performance, and readiness for collegiate competition.

In his own words

As his mom, Becky, shares:

“USPA provides Josh the freedom to adjust his schoolwork based on practice and game schedules, while still receiving consistent support from teachers and learning coaches.”

Is online school right for you?

Online learning isn’t just a trend—it’s a flexible, personalized approach to education that empowers students to thrive. At USPA, we provide:

  • Flexibility to learn at your own pace and schedule
  • Personalized support from experienced teachers and learning coaches
  • Access to diverse courses that fit your interests and goals
  • A safe, inclusive environment for every learner

If you’re looking for a school that adapts to your needs and helps you succeed, USPA might be the perfect fit.
