Meet Thotsawat Garnero: From Elite Training Blocks to the Olympic Stage
Thotsawat “Thot” Garnero, Class of 2026, chose USPA for the flexibility that allows him to train, compete, and pursue international alpine skiing at the highest level.
About Thotsawat Garnero
Thot Garnero is an accomplished alpine skier who represents Thailand in Slalom (SL) and Giant Slalom (GS). As one of USPA’s dedicated student‑athletes, he earned Olympic qualifying points for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, demonstrating his elite skill and determination on the world stage.
Though he narrowly missed competing this Olympic cycle, Thot was selected as an Olympic Reserve Athlete and Coach, supporting his team on‑site in Bormio, Italy, where the men’s SL and GS events take place.
His season continues at a high level as he competes in the 45th Junior Alpine Skiing World Championships in Narvik, Norway, reaffirming his status as an athlete with strong international promise.
What was school like before USPA?
Balancing global training camps, international competitions, and high‑performance skiing made traditional schooling difficult. Frequent travel meant missing classes, juggling deadlines, and constantly catching up—an overwhelming model for an athlete training at a professional level.
Why did Thot join USPA?
Thot needed a school that could travel with him, support his demanding ski career, and provide the structure to keep him academically on track. USPA’s flexible learning model allowed him to:
- Train and compete across different countries
- Maintain academic progress without falling behind
- Adjust his schedule around training cycles and event travel
- Stay connected to teachers, coaches, and coursework from anywhere in the world
USPA enabled Thot to pursue an elite skiing career without sacrificing his education.
What’s next for Thot?
Thot continues to compete on the world stage, representing Thailand in major international events. His role at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics and his participation in the Junior Alpine World Championships illustrate a career gaining momentum.
With strong performance, global experience, and a relentless work ethic, Thot is poised for continued success at the senior competitive level.
“Thanks to the USPA, Thot’s skiing career has been made possible. The study method has allowed him to follow his training and, above all, to travel to many competitions while still managing to keep up with his studies.” — Luigi Garnero, Thot’s father
