Meet Bane Griffith: From missed classes to Broadway star

Bane Griffith, class of 2030, chose USPA for its global access and community spirit.

About Bane Griffith

Bane is a born performer whose passion for acting, dancing, and singing was clear from a very young age. Having played a leading role in Broadway’s MJ the Musical and danced in The Nutcracker, Bane has had the opportunity to showcase his skills at some of the most iconic venues in America.

What was school like before USPA?

Bane was enrolled at a local elementary school before being cast in MJ the Musical. Although he enjoyed the social aspect of this experience, Bane’s intense schedule of acting classes, dance rehearsals, and out-of-state auditions made it challenging for him to keep up with his studies. When Bane landed the role of little MJ, he knew he needed a school that would work with him.

Why did Bane join USPA?

When Bane chose to move to online schooling, he thought he would be losing the things he liked best about school. That was until he came across USPA, where he found the flexibility and global access he needed to keep up with rehearsals and performances—and a space where he could engage with other like‑minded peers and teachers who understood the challenges he faced.

What’s next for Bane?

After conquering Broadway and a whirlwind of performances in MJ the Musical, where he dazzled audiences in several states, Bane has shifted his attention to dance. Since making this move, he has landed a role in The Nutcracker. This opportunity allowed him to showcase his passion and talent for dance on incredible stages like The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston.

Going forward, Bane hopes to land a role in a Disney movie or series. His ultimate goal is joining an high-level group of performers to achieve an EGOT—winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

What I love most is connecting with my classmates and teachers. USPA helps me more than any other school would because I have to take more accountability for my assignments. It also helps me with dance because the balance is a lot lighter. I can work on assignments at any time of the day.” - Bane Griffith
