Sean is a member of the USA Luge Junior National Team; an accomplishment that goes to only a few young athletes in the country.
A promising young athlete, Sean has had many notable results in his athletic career including winning the 2018 and 2019 Norton Junior National Championship. In the 2017 season, he placed 10th place in Youth World Cup singles rankings.Being named to the USA Luge Junior National Team came as a result of his dedication and focus to the sport. He trains with the Junior National and National Team and lives full time at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. During the summer and fall, he trains in Lake Placid, NY, Calgary, Edmonton and then begins his season in Lillehammer, Norway in October. Afterwards he heads out to winter races around the world in November.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to travel with the Junior National team in Canada and Europe this coming season.” said Sean. “I’ve really enjoyed training with members of the USA Luge National Team this summer. It has really pushed me. We have some great coaches and our equipment is always improving.”
With the long training hours and unpredictable travel schedule, Sean chose an alternative form of education to keep up with his studies. A recent graduate of USPA, Sean is a student at Champlain College where he is studying cybersecurity.
“We opened our digital ‘doors’ with students like Sean in mind.” Said USPA President, Peter Smith. “Sean has worked so hard both on the mountain and in our classrooms. It’s wonderful to see that hard work result in such a special opportunity. A big part of our mission at USPA is supporting athletes academically, while allowing them to continue succeeding in their chosen sport. I look forward to following Sean’s continued success.”
