Liam Lavery began working professionally as a musician at the age of 13 and toured nationally and internationally with professional orchestras and choirs. This unique experience has given Liam the understanding of the difficulties and challenges of balancing professional and academic pursuits. He was the Young Composer of the Year in Northern Ireland and is the recipient of Lilian Bayliss Award, presented by Judi Dench.
Liam worked in London’s West End and on national tours as a performer, composer, and Musical Director. He recorded vocals at Abbey Road Studios and Universal Music UK. He then moved into education and worked with young performers balancing professional pursuits with their studies. He moved to Spain to take up the position of Director of Creative Arts at a private British school where he mentored profesional child performers in the fields of ballet, music and musical theatre. From there he became Director of Creative Arts and Director of Digital Marketing and Events at an exclusive private school in Abu Dhabi with a focus on innovative learning technologies, working with members of the ruling Royal family and other officials, diplomats and VIPs.
Liam practices CrossFit and is an avid obstacle course racer with a preference for mountain courses and challenging terrain. He lives in Valencia, Spain where he is a member of Samarucs, an organisation commited to promoting the visibility of LGBTQI+ athletes in sport – Liam forms part of the Samarucs rowing team. He is an animal lover and enjoys long walks with his rescue dog, Elphie.
