Julie is a lifelong advocate of education; her thirty years of experience in education extends beyond classroom teaching and athletic coaching and into higher education consulting, academic advising, strategic planning, non-profit management, and athletic coaching. Most recently the Director of Athlete Career & Education for U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Julie advised and mentored elite national and Olympic team athletes on academic and professional pursuits. Julie also provides college counseling and whole athlete development coaching nationally to students grades 9-12 through her business Aptitude Academics; she specializes in academic advising, writing, test preparation, and college applications and essays.
Julie earned a B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth College and a M.A. from Middlebury College (Bread Loaf School of English) before teaching and coaching at Hackley School and The Masters School in New York. Julie was also an organizational consultant for Campus Pipeline, SCT, and TrueNorthLogic, supporting higher education institutions with enterprise resource planning and professional development management systems. She has also served in her community of Park City, Utah as a board member and advisor on the Park City Education Foundation, Mamaci Utah Lacrosse, National Ability Center, Park Record Spelling Bee, Community Sport Coaltion, and Park City Lacrosse Organization. Julie loves adventuring and playing in the mountain west with her family and friends.
