Over the course of thirty years Mr. Murphy taught history, coached soccer and counseled students throughout the world as well as in the United States. During his international career Jack lived in twelve countries on five continents and helped hundreds of expatriate American and foreign students find placement in appropriate colleges and universities.

From 1989 to 2009 Mr. Murphy served as the Director of College and University Counseling at international and American Schools in Spain, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Kenya, Germany, Indonesia, Taiwan and Abu Dhabi. He returned to the Boston area in 2010 and has done considerable work as an independent college counselor and educational consultant with educational organizations and independent school associations.  Over the past three years, Jack’s unique set of skills, his expertise and his experience enabled him to comfortably train college counselors in China, step in and serve in an interim capacity at the International School of Panama, and travel to Korea and Spain on short-term advising projects. That work, with Search Associates, placed Jack in international schools in need of assistance related to the creation, development or improvement of college counseling programs.

At the same time, Jack still worked with athletes at a small independent school in Boston and serves as a consultant for Sage Academics of the Cambridge Institute of International Education. Jack is a specialist in advising students who wish to consider a range of choices and a wide variety of higher education options in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and in other national systems. In addition, his love of sport, and his background as a former college and high school coach, enabled Jack to advise and assist student-athletes who wish to pursue a sport at the collegiate or university level.

Mr. Murphy looks forward to continuing his work with students and families. He is married and resides in the Boston area and on Cape Cod.
