USASA

The US Performance Academy (USPA) and the International Development Academy (IDA) partnership gives IDA players access to USPA’s leading online education platform beginning with the International Development Academy in Valencia, Spain.

USPA is an accredited, NCAA approved, private, online, middle & high school created for high performance athletes. Designed by athletes and educators, the approach specifically benefits driven students who are training, traveling, competing, and pushing themselves to the next level.

The partnership gives all IDA athletes the opportunity to balance their travel, training, and competition schedule at IDA without falling behind in their studies. Additionally, access to USPA is available to IDA US and UK students who may need a more flexible academic solution to balance alongside their training and competitive schedule.

‘Working with IDA has been a natural fit from the beginning,’ says Liam Lavery, site director of USPA’s blended learning centre at IDA, Valencia. ‘IDA management and coaching staff share USPA’s commitment to academic excellence and we work hand in hand in order offer our student athletes a seamless, integrated ex perience that focuses on a holistic approach to development. Having our Learning Coach on site in Valencia means they can provide the students with in depth, live support, leveraging team dynamics to really get to know them, develop relationships and provide the individual guidance each one needs. Getting to attend games and share in the students’ athletic journey is an added bonus that also provides opportunities for learning which can be applied to different classroom situations. Being able to work so closely with IDA staff on our shared vision for our student athletes in Valencia has been an integral factor to the many student successes since our partnership began.’

The online curriculum allows for a flexible school schedule and academic calendar. The extensive support system available keeps students involved, motivated, and on track to succeed. The focus on the student-athlete’s future goals and aspirations is an integral part of the program.

The International Development Academy in Valencia offers access to middle and high school courses, online teachers, tutors, learning coaches, access to learning centers, coaching, and more. Launched in 2019, the International Academy is aimed at high-level players aged 16-18 looking to develop in a world-class full-time professional soccer environment.
