Are you experienced in using educational technologies in counseling practices? If so, US Performance Academy (USPA) would like to hear from you. We are looking for a current or retired college counselor ready to take on a dynamic role in a growing online school for high-performance athletes. As an integral member of the academic team, you will partner with faculty to oversee and enhance our college counseling program.

US Performance Academy is an accredited, private, online school for elite athletes in middle and high school. Designed by athletes and educators, our approach specifically benefits driven students who are training, traveling, competing, and pushing to the next level. WHAT YOU’LL DO
To support our growing program, US Performance Academy seeks a talented college counselor who possesses thorough knowledge of online learning environments and understands the vision and goal of the USPA learning model. The college counselor will guide students and their families through all stages of the college search and admission process. USPA’s four-year developmental approach to the college process includes self-assessment and forward planning for freshmen and sophomores, and one-on-one college counseling relationships with juniors and seniors. While grounded in the philosophy of a student-centered and student-driven search, working closely with parents, learning coaches, and athletic coaches is an intrinsic part of the process as well.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve USPA students, grades 9-12, with grade appropriate college information and expectations for each graduation year
Manage SCOIR student platform
Manage NCAA process with students and families
Provide guidance to all students in exploring and identifying their academic, educational, athletic, social, and career goals, interests and strengths
Assist students in researching colleges and universities
Understand and be skilled in current application process criteria, policies, requirements, and platforms
Develop and implement initiatives to support college process for all students, including organizing and delivering information sessions, individual meetings, and workshops
Collaborate with the Academic Team (and other school staff as needed) to ensure that students receive the academic support and guidance they need to achieve their academic goals
Advise and support the development of Plans of Study to support college goals
Provide individual and group counseling to students, parents, guardians regarding college selection, application process and timeline, financial aid and scholarship opportunities
Maintain accurate and confidential records of student academic progress, performance, college applications tasks, timelines, and status, and other relevant industry information.
Monitor and track student progress and provide ongoing support throughout the application process.
Stay current on college admissions policies and higher education trends, both national and international.

The USPA Family Advisor fields in-bound, sport-specific inquiries as well as seeks to connect with potential student athletes and their families. As Family Advisors communicate frequently with elite athletes and their families, the position requires a deep understanding of the challenges faced by elite student-athletes. The Family Advisor should have attained mastery in their specific sport and participated at an elite level.
The USPA Family Advisor’s primary goal is to enroll USPA students, as well as remain trusted mentors to the student-athlete and their families throughout their USPA journey.
